Metaphysics (from the Greek words μετά (metá) (meaning "beyond" or "after") and φυσικά (physiká,) (meaning "physical", "physics" referring to those works on matter by Aristotle), a term used by Andronicus of Rhodes, the eleventh scholarch of the Peripatetic school, in posthumously edited collections, to replace the term "first philosophy" used by Arisrotle himself.
